Governance, in shorthand, is deciding who gets to decide. Web governance typically covers nine essential areas:
- Centralized responsibilities and support
- Decentralized responsibilities and necessary skillsets
- Web content classifications
- Website management tools
- Account access and required training
- Web standards and guidelines
- Domain name policy
- Content review cycles
- Sites outside the CMS
Agnes Scott has never had a set of codified governance policies, so this is a gigantic leap forward for us as a web publishing community!
A small working group at Agnes Scott is currently reviewing a draft of web governance policies that we developed toward the end of last year. That group includes:
- Dan Watson
- Kelly Ball
- Leah Owenby
- Michelle Lacoss
- Nikita Burks-Hale (currently out on maternity leave)
- Rachel West
Once their notes are integrated into the draft, our governance policy draft will go to Dr. Zak and her cabinet for for review and approval.
