Web Governance Policy

Governance, in shorthand, is deciding who gets to decide. Web governance typically covers nine essential areas:

  1. Centralized responsibilities and support
  2. Decentralized responsibilities and necessary skillsets
  3. Web content classifications
  4. Website management tools
  5. Account access and required training
  6. Web standards and guidelines
  7. Domain name policy
  8. Content review cycles
  9. Sites outside the CMS

Agnes Scott has never had a set of codified governance policies, so this is a gigantic leap forward for us as a web publishing community!

A small working group at Agnes Scott is currently reviewing a draft of web governance policies that we developed toward the end of last year. That group includes:

  • Dan Watson
  • Kelly Ball
  • Leah Owenby
  • Michelle Lacoss
  • Nikita Burks-Hale (currently out on maternity leave)
  • Rachel West

Once their notes are integrated into the draft, our governance policy draft will go to Dr. Zak and her cabinet for for review and approval.
